Manny Pacquiao Versus Ricky Hatton
Live on Sunday May 3, 2009 (Manila Time) at The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m sure that all Filipino will be watching this big fight again. Here in Roxas City, Capiz, the roads and highways will be empty of vehicles. No tricycles will roam around the city. Why? It is not because there’s no passengers during that time but because all tricycle drivers will be on their houses, restaurants, and in Capiz Gym all of their eyes looking on the big screen watching our own Filipino Boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio square off with England’s Ricky “Hitman” Hatton for the Junior Welterweight Title. Both of the fighters are coming off a very impressive win. Manny Pacquiao is coming fresh off his victory over Mexican legend Oscar De la Hoya last December of 2008. While Ricky Hatton is also coming off a big win over Paulie Malignaggi in November of 2008. For me, Pacman will win in that match. Pacquiao is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, and he'll be favored to beat Hatton, who is the world junior welterweight champion. Though, Hatton for me is not easily a fighter to be beaten. Hatton has also an advantage over Pacquaio, he is big and also strong puncher. Hatton said that this is he’s favorite class 140 pounds, a class where Hatton has remained undefeated in 46 outings. I still support my fellow countryman, he is our Pambansang Kamao and I believe he can win this one for all the Filipino people.
