An SEO contest is an activity awarding prizes that challenges search engine optimization (SEO) practitioners to rank themselves among the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN using certain keyword(s). This type of contest is controversial because it often leads to massive amounts of link spamming as participants try to boost the rankings of their pages by any means available. The organizing body of an SEO competition may hold the activity without promotion of a product or service in mind; or they may organize a contest in order to market something on the Internet. Participants can showcase their skills and potentially discover and share new techniques for promoting websites. An example of this contest is Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009. This is a new Inter-School SEO contest. This Search Engine Optimization (SEO) contest exclusive for students, teachers and graduates of Capiz was launched last January 23, 2009. The participants are given a two month period of optimizing the keyword phrase “Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009” in Google Search Engine. With a total of P10, 000.00 of prizes at stake, Prizes will be awarded to the contestants whose site/blog ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the “Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009” keyword phrase on the finish date on Google. We should all be proud as Capiznon.

Capiz Inter School SEO Contest
A new Inter-School Search Engine Optimization (SEO) contest exclusive only for students, teachers and graduates of Capiz. The participants are given a two month period of optimizing the keyphrase “Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009” in Google Search Engine. The contest started last February 3, 2009 (12:00nn) until April 10, 2009 (12:00nn). Such contest really enhanced and developed the skills, knowledge and attitudes of Capiznons. New techniques and strategies where developed in battling the search engine algorithm and to be on top in SERP. The rule is to set up a new blog hosted by any free blog hosting such as blogger, wordpress, tblog, or any free hosting blogs. This SEO contest was sponsored by OptiRed. With a total of P10,000.00 of prizes at stake, Prizes will be awarded to the contestants whose blog ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the “Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009” keyphrase on the finish date on Google.

Many of the schools, students and graduates of Roxas City and Capiz are expected to join this contest — namely Filamer Christian College (FCC), Hercor College (HC), AMA Computer Learning Center, DAV-C, PACE Computer College, Capiz State University (CAPSU), Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion (CPC), Capiz Institute of Electronics (CIE), and College of St. John. This is the two months optimization for the keyword Hectic Capiznon Bloggers 2009, and everybody will give it’s best to win.
